Question: Think of a problem that a
character had to face. Write the problem and how the character solved it or is
working to solve it. If you were the character, what would you do
differently?
I think the biggest problem that the
character had to face was that he was kicked out of his
school.
As the writer wrote, Holden took the
train and went back to New York City, where his family was. But he didn’t go
home directly, instead of that, he found a small hotel and decided to live there
for a while and try to find a way to avoid his parents from knowing the truth,
which was he was dropped out of the school. So we can see that when Holden was
facing this problem of drop out, he tried to find a way to escape from the
reality. Maybe he did this for his family because he didn’t want to disappoint
them, but I also think that he did this because he didn’t want to face all the
consequences that he had to face.
But, if you were the character, probably
I would do the same thing with Holden. Because there was not a better way to
solve this problem. Tell my parents that I was kicked out of the school? I’m
sure they would be either disappointed on me or angry with me, even they would
be both. So I don’t think I would do anything
differently.
